'Des Hommes et Des Dieux'
Anne
Lescot and Laurence Magloire. Haiti, 2002, Documentary, Creole with
English subtitles, 52 mins.
This
film sheds light on gay life and culture in Haiti, where homosexuality,
though not uncommon, is still considered taboo. The lifestyles of gay men
are accepted within Haiti's voodoo religion, which provides an outlet for
expression in performances in which the men embody the gods. The film also
looks at the looming threat of the AIDS epidemic on Haiti's gay
population.
